Who we are
Shropshire Retreat Limited is the data controller for personal data collected through this website. We are registered in England and Wales , company number 17522126 .
What we collect, and why
- Name, email address and phone number, to create and manage your booking and to contact you about it.
- Booking details: dates, number of guests, purpose of stay, and any message you send us, to deliver the stay you've booked.
- Payment information, processed directly by Stripe, our payment provider. We do not see or store your full card details.
- A record of acceptance of our house rules and cancellation policy, including the time it was accepted, kept as evidence of the contract.
- Enquiry details if you use the contact form, to reply to you.
Our lawful basis for most of this is performance of a contract with you (fulfilling your booking) and legal obligation (keeping accounting records). Where we rely on legitimate interest, for example responding to an enquiry, we only use the minimum data needed.
Who we share it with
- Stripe, to process payment.
- Our transactional email provider, to send booking confirmations and other emails about your stay.
- Google Calendar, internally, so the owner can see confirmed bookings in his own calendar. Only your name, guest count and booking reference appear there; your contact details do not.
We do not sell personal data, and we do not use it for third-party advertising.
How long we keep it
We keep booking and payment records for 6 years after your stay, to meet our accounting obligations, unless we are required to keep them for longer. After that, your personal data is deleted or anonymised.
Your rights
Under UK GDPR you have the right to ask for a copy of the personal data we hold about you, to ask us to correct it, to ask us to delete it (subject to our accounting obligations above), to restrict or object to certain processing, and to ask for your data in a portable format. To exercise any of these rights, use the contact form. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner's Office (ico.org.uk) if you believe we have not handled your data properly.
